For a greener tomorrow in Toronto Harbour
SOLUTIONS

The land occupied by the Toronto Island Airport has a spectacular location. The city’s impressive skyline dominates the view. On three sides is water. To the west is Humber Bay, to the east Toronto Harbour and on the north is the Western Gap. Toronto Island Park, the jewel in the crown of the Toronto park system, is just on the other side of a high chain link fence.

Hanlan’s Point once held Toronto’s favorite amusement park and the most popular beaches in the city. Today the 215 acres of land, occupied by a dirty, polluted airport, is fenced off from the public and accessible only to a handful of travelers.

It takes only an act of imagination to see what this land could become. We invite you to look at some ideas others have had, and to develop your own ideas about the fabulous possibilities that the land holds for us all, if only the airport is closed. If you are inspired, please send us your own ideas.
